We are a small Melbourne based homewares business.
All our products are lovingly handcrafted from locally sourced reclaimed timber.
Harry & Jane was founded by Emily Jane Shaw in late 2014. As a builder’s daughter, Emily grew up tinkering in her dad’s shed always experimenting and creating. “One Christmas I was tormented, as I am every year, with what to get Dad. So I went around to see him. There he was swearing at his iPad stand that kept collapsing. “Awesome!” I thought and I went outside and found an offcut of timber and got to work. Christmas day came around and Dad was so chuffed he didn’t even notice I had given him back his own bit of timber. Two weeks later Dad’s mates started asking me for their own, and so Harry & Jane began.” Says Emily.
Harry & Jane’s signature pieces include the tablet and mini tablet stands – the range has grown to include bath shelf tablet stands (made to order), the very popular selection of geometric tea-light holders and the newly released magazine stand.
Harry & Jane places great emphasis on creating sustainable products. All Harry & Jane’s products are made from reclaimed Golden Cypress, which has an amazing level of character and a beautiful natural smell. ‘I love raw timber. But in today’s mass-production society, everything is stripped of its natural beauty to create a bland, unified look. I find this really sad because not only does it produce a huge amount of wastage, it also makes life as bland as the products themselves.’
Harry & Jane products are available at our online store, local stockists and at upcoming design fairs, such as Finders Keepers Melbourne.
